Mr Anashrin Pillay – Acting CEO

Anashrin Pillay

Anashrin Pillay, acting CEO, previously served as Group Head of Investor relations at PPC, with his primary role to serve as the leader of ESG GPS for South Africa, Africa and the world. Anashrin has a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Mathematics, Actuarial Science and Statistics and recently completed his PGDIP at Henley Business School in 2020 with distinction.

Anashrin is an investment professional with pan-African investment experience. He joined the stockbroking industry in 2005 as a junior analyst. In 2009, he was rated in the annual Financial Mail survey for analysts in the construction sector. In 2010, he joined Stanlib Asset Management as an industrial analyst and was responsible for covering diversified industrials and construction as part of the Stanlib Industrial Team. In 2014, he joined PPC as programme management officer in the office of the CFO, responsible for special projects. In this capacity he was successful in delivering a profit improvement programme in excess of R400m and was project lead on a transaction of more than R100m. In 2016, he was appointed as a senior corporate finance analyst involved in project finance reviews in various rest of Africa countries including (Zimbabwe, Rwanda, Ethiopia and DRC) and investigating M&A opportunities. In 2017, he was appointed as Head of Investor Relations at PPC. He also served as Chairman of the PPC Pension Fund Investment Committee and currently serves as a director on the board of the Investor Relations Society of South Africa.

Mr Andrey Bogdanov – Principal

Mr Andrey Bogdanov has over 20 years of Treasury, Risk and Finance expertise internationally with particular emphasis on Africa and former Soviet Union. Mr Bogdanov is a graduate of the Economics and Law Faculty of the St Petersburg State University. He holds Masters Degree in Business Administration from TRIUM. He is currently a Principal at Risk Insights and responsible for Corporate Finance and Treasury Related Transactions.

Before joining Risk Insights Andrey was working in JT Group (Fortune 500 company) in various senior Treasury and Finance positions being responsible for MENEA, former Soviet Union, Eastern Europe, Americas regions, Global Supply Chain and Global Leaf word-wide.

Bogdanov has  ensured delivery of the ambitious company’s goals in the region, integration of the newly acquired businesses, providing strategic guidelines, hands on implementation of the strategies on the ground in various countries. In particular his responsibilities included evaluation of the business opportunities in the region and risk mitigation strategies, smooth integration of newly acquired entities in the region into JTI corporate environment, optimisation of entity / treasury / tax / capital structures in order to maximise long term shareholders value, representation of the entities towards financial institutions and various authorities, process re-engineering and restructuring of entity management, optimising of existing management / accounting systems and Implementation of ERP system, control system in all regional entities, mitigation of financial risks generated by business, succession planning and career management for the finance staff in the region, compliance to Japanese equivalent of the SOX.

Mr Yathin Maharaj – Head of Shared Services

Mr Yathin Maharaj holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree with specialisation in Finance and Risk Management. He is currently in progress with the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Certification. He brings 6 years of corporate consulting experience in a variety of areas including finance, remuneration, investment analysis, employee benefits, insurance, risk management and audit and risk reporting. Yathin is the Head of Shared Services for Risk Insights.

Mr Thusani Khwanda – Data Scientist

Thusani has a BSc. Mathematical Science Degree majoring in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics from the University of Johannesburg (SA) and a Post Graduate NQF level 8 Certificate in Computational Intelligence for Industry (Data Science).
He was also part DSIDE Student Vacation (Data Science for Impact and Decision Enablement) 2018-2019 at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) where data science techniques are used to help improve Decision making in South Africa. Thusani is a  Data Scientist in the data lab at Risk Insights.

Mr Delegate Hokonya – Data Scientist

Mr Delegate T Hokonya holds a BSc degree in Mathematical Sciences (with specialization in mathematics and statistics), a BSc (Hons) degree in Mathematical Statistics and an NQF level 8 certificate with distinction in Computational Intelligence for Industry (Data Science) from the University of Johannesburg. He is also a member of the Institute of Risk Management South Africa (IRSMA).

Before joining Risk Insights: Futuristic Risk Management, Delegate has worked for Qrent SA as a computer technician assistant and was employed for 4 years by the University of Johannesburg as an Academic Tutor for mathematics and statistics courses. Delegate is a  Data Scientist in the data lab at Risk Insights.

Mr Kunaal Kalyan – Data Scientist

Mr Kunaal Kalyan holds a BSc Actuarial and Financial Mathematics degree from the University of Pretoria. He is an aspiring Fellow of the Actuarial Society of South Africa (ASSA). Kunaal is a Data Scientist in the data lab at Risk Insights.

Miss Fezile Khanyi – Receptionist

Fezile studied Public Management at Central Technical College, After she left college she worked for a number of corporate companies such as Liberty Life and Statistics SA as a receptionist , she has gained very sound communication and other management skills which enable’s her to handle our front office with great integrity. Fezile is a strong social blogger and is responsible for social media for Risk Insights and its associated companies.
